Mariana’s Role: Campaing Strategy, Website Design & Case Study Development

Care Today is a campaign developed in response to a challenge asking to address a social issue through design. Our team focused on the issue of mass shootings, approaching it not only as a matter of prevention. The campaign was built around the belief that addressing violence at its root is possible with care, awareness, and early intervention.

Designed to resonate with younger generations while encouraging support and involvement from adults Care Today uses education, conversation, and community engagement as tools for change.

Tone and Voice

Warm, human, hopeful and NEVER FEAR BASED. focused on healing and prevention. The colors and imagery evoke trust, youthfulness and belonging. Design should feel approachable and never institutional

  • Care Today is a youth-centered social awareness campaign that promotes kindness, empathy and community connection as everyday actions to help prevent violence.

  • Our campaign focuses on kids and teenagers. We have found that they sit at both the center of vulnerability and prevention when it comes to violence.

    Our youth may not be the only affected by this issue, but they are the most powerful agents of change.

  • Our goal is to prevent mass shootings by addressing the problem from the root. Emotional neglect, trauma, lack of accessible support and community engagement have been identified as the most common causes for violence.

    We believe that we can intervene before pain turns into tragic action.

A Problem That Starts Before the News Hit

Mass shootings happen far too often and the constant repetition of this tragic events has led us to believe that ths is an erratic problem and there is nothing we can do about it. The truth is that mass shootings don’t come out of the blue, they grow in silence. Studies have shown that most times the perpretators are people who felt disconnected, missing cues and numb.

Care Today’s website is a tool where the community can access informative content. Here they can learn the facts about gun violence, warning signs, as well as learning about our mission, keep up with our events, volunteer, donate, and most importantly understand how to start change today!

Workshops & Community Events

The workshops will offer hands-on activities for kids and teens along with guided conversations, counseling support and promotion of responsible gun safety laws. These sessions are meant to teach empathy, emotional awareness and conflict resolution skills.
